Our Vision
The vision of kanyadaan is a deeply symbolic and emotional Hindu wedding ritual where a father "gives away" his daughter to the groom. It represents the transfer of responsibility for the bride's happiness and well-being from her parents to her husband, while also symbolizing the union of two families and the continuation of blessings. In a spiritual context, the ritual views the groom as the embodiment of Lord Vishnu and the bride as Goddess Lakshmi, making the ceremony a sacred merging of deities.
Traditional and spiritual significance
:
- Transfer of responsibility : The act signifies the father formally giving his daughter's hand to the groom, with the expectation that the groom will protect and care for her.
- Spiritual blessing : In traditional belief, the parents of the bride are blessed for performing this ritual, and it is seen as a way to attain liberation from the cycle of life and death.
- Symbol of purity :The ritual, often involving holy water poured over the hands, symbolizes the beginning of a pure and sacred bond between the couple.
- Merging of families :It is considered a union of two families, not just two individuals, and the ritual helps to welcome the bride into her new family.
